Random Thoughts

Those of you who have been following me for a while know that this is my favorite spot in the house.  My reading chair in our front room/library.  That chair technically isn't even mine.  We bought it for our son Ahren when he was in graduate school down at Cal Poly.  He calls it his "cigar chair".  Not that he smokes cigars, that's just what he calls it.  Obviously he wasn't able to take it to Ireland with him when he moved there, so I am "taking care of it" for him.  If he ever wants it back I will be lost.

That quilt on the back of the chair is my Sunflower Sisters quilt.  The pattern "Autumn in My Garden", is by Buggy Barn, from years ago.  Not even sure if you can get it any more.  This was a buddy sew along between me and my friends Lisa and Thelma, about five years ago.   We each cut extras of all our fabrics and shared between the three of us.  We sure got lots of variety!  Those were fun days.  We called ourselves the Sunflower Sisters.

I can't remember if I shared this already, but I am loving my hall table with the new big red candle stick and the lighted metal star.  The star came from Pottery Barn, and was available in two sizes, one of them larger than what I chose.  The candlestick was purchased on our trip down to Carmel, from a little one of a kind home decor shop.  I had seen a red candlestick at Pottery Barn, which I coveted, but it was way too pricey.  When we walked into the gift shop in Carmel, the sales associate asked if I was looking for anything in particular.  I said, "Yes, a large red candle stick".  "Oh my, we don't have anything like that", she said.  So, I am browsing along and what do I see tucked up on a shelf, but the perfect red candle stick.  I pointed it out to the sales lady (who clearly did not know her stock) and it came home with me.  Or maybe she was saving it for herself!  At any rate, it's mine now.

Hope you all had a fine weekend.  I did some sewing on Saturday and completed sixteen of my Star Studded Sew Along blocks.  Four more to go.  Sunday I stayed in loungewear all day long and didn't do a darn thing!  Hence the Around the House post and no pictures of sewing.
