2016 was my year to give quilts away. I gave 14 quilts away to family and friends this Christmas, plus I donated at least a half dozen to worthy causes. Most of my effort this year was focused on sending tops off to be quilted and then sewing the subsequent miles of bindings. I did complete a few full sized quilts in 2016 as well as some smaller projects. Here is a little re-cap of those items:
Paganini, a Miss Rosie Schnibbles pattern. This was adorable when quilted and I really enjoyed it on my table this holiday season.
This little one is Frivols #5, another Miss Rosie pattern that came in a collectible tin. This one came to life when quilted as well, and it was a fun addition to my 4th of July home decor.
Sara's Log Cabin. This was my first full size quilt finish for 2016, and I couldn't have done it without you lovely readers. Didn't we have fun reviewing a ton of possible layouts for these blocks? This is the final version that Sara is enjoying in her bedroom.
This may be my favorite full size quilt of the year. It is Halloween Bounce, another Miss Rosie pattern. She calls it just "Bounce", but I used various Halloween inspired colors for mine. Love that border. This one will be quilted this year at some point.
A diamond table topper for Sara. No particular pattern, just diamonds sewn together from some cute Sandy Gervais fabrics.
Vintage Halloween fabrics in another table topper for Sara. This was an old pattern from Buttermilk Basin. Super simple, and a fun way to use a collection of fabrics you want to feature.
Raise the Roof, a Miss Rosie pattern. This quilt was years in the making. Not this one literally, but it is a quilt I started years ago in another color scheme that did not work whatsoever. This version, done in Jeanne Horton's Jefferson County fabrics is just how I envisioned it. Another one to be quilted this year.
Leftover Minick and Simpson fabrics for yet another table topper for Sara. She was the recipient of quite of few of my projects this year….
Viola. A Miss Rosie pattern begun in 2015, but finished properly in 2016. This will go on Eva's bed eventually. So cheerful and fun. Glad I finished this one, as it was quite a project.
Lastly, I did a couple little projects over the year, including these fun pincushions (Miss Rosie pattern again), and the Terri Atkinson Zippy Bags below.
It wasn't my most productive year in terms of new projects, but it sure felt good to complete and gift all those quilts I had made over the years. With 2017 upon us, I feel energized and enthusiastic about the quilts on my To Be Made list, and look forward to sharing my progress with you over the next 12 months.
I hope 2017 brings you lots of rewarding sewing and quilting friendship. Happy New Year!

How many UFOs and quilt tops do you have left to finish? Were you able to really clear out the backlog or do you still have many left to complete?

So that was a slow year? I made a donation quilt for the Pulse nightclub shooting, a little Jo Morton top that isn’t quilted, a knitted cowl and a crocheted wedding shawl and I thought my year was productive! (Of course, compared to 2015, it was!) I’m looking forward to seeing your projects for 2017, and I’m hoping to create a few of my own. Here’s to creativity in the new year!
