Remember Beach Cottage? I pulled it out last week and started working on the blocks again. A few of you have emailed me to say, what the heck happened to that project? I had intended to finish it long before this!
I found some plaid fabrics that coordinate with the florals and may add them in to the mix for interest. I like the stripe and the smaller plaids. The large blue and yellow plaid may be over kill, but I am willing to consider it once I get the blocks laid out. I have a feeling it is going to be a bit too crazy for me. Not feeling the love for that one.
65 of the 80 blocks are completed, so I should be able to crack out the remainder this week. If I can stay out of Marshall's. Lord love me, I have been to every Marshall's within 100 miles of my house lately, I swear. I saw some really pretty blue toile dishes there that I simply cannot get out of my mind. Like I need blue dishes. I don't even DO blue. But, I keep thinking, how about after Christmas, say early January, when the world is weary of red and green and sick to death of clutter….How soothing would a place setting of blue and white toile dishes be on a white lace table cloth, and a simple white orchid as a centerpiece?
Gasp. Now, how did that follow me home?
On Sunday I presented my niece with her Tres Chic quilt. (I was calling it Oooh La La, but I think Tres Chic is a better name), She was thrilled with it! I tell you, that is the reason I love to quilt. There is nothing finer than presenting something you made with love and attention to someone who truly appreciates it. I know she will have it for years and will enjoy it.

I think Beach Cottage is going to be gorgeous – but then blue and yellow just does it for me! (should have been born Swedish!) There is just something so cottagey, summery, simple and happy about it – and I LIKE the plaid!!!
As far as the china situation goes – sometimes you just have to follow your heart! A little of what makes you happy does you good!

I’m excited to see the Beach Cottage quilt being worked on again! I love the stripes and checks – not so much the blue/yellow plaid in this project. Your instincts are usually right! The finished quilt is sure to be dazzling!

Ummmm, I am rather hesitant to point this out, but did you know that you can also check for dishes at TJ Maxx? I think TJM is a subsidiary of Marshalls or vice versa . . .

Love the quilt and the happy variety of fabrics! You’ll soon know if one fabric isn’t playing nicely with the rest.
The blue and white candlesticks are lovely! My household colors seem to have evolved to green,cream, red, and blue because of blue floral dishes … sigh! Shall I brave the heat and humidity to go to Marshalls?

I love those blues you’re using for the quilt and the fabrics that you added. And now I think that I need to get to Marshalls and see what they have. Blue is definitely my color, but with my luck everything will be gone! I was going to mention TJMaxx too for dishes.

I like the blue and yellow plaids…and I am definately not a blue person. It looks very springy though. Don’t you hate when things follow you home LOL! I love the sunflower plate on the red square plate…nice!

The blue and yellow fabrics are so pretty together. I love mixing plaids with screen prints. It just makes it more interesting.
Tres Chic is just beautiful. It really makes the hard work worth it all when someone loves the quilt you make for them.

I’ve never stepped foot inside of Marshall’s until I read these two blog entries. I went yesterday and spent $78 on lovely stuff. Lovely but still, $78. It’s your fault. I’ll look for a check from you in the mail for $78!!!!!

Gosh! Now I will have to go to Marshall’s and look for those dishes. I collect blue and white dishes. What kind of dishes are they? I collected all types and designs of blue and white dishes from Marshall’s and TJMaxx. It doesn’t matter which collection just so they are blue and white. Take care!
