This is really coming along. It is Piecing the Past's "Comfort and Blessing" summer quilt along. The patterns are available for purchase on their website. I think I have been referring to this project as "Comfort and Joy" but that wasn't right. I must have Christmas in July on my brain. Anyway, sorry for any confusion.
I reduced the block size from 9 inches down to 6 inches. Where I could. Some of the measurements were too hard to work out for me, so I just substituted other blocks for the ones I couldn't reduce. On Sunday I managed to sew the diagonal rows together and hope to connect the rows later this week. There will be three borders- one, a narrow dark brown containment border, two, a cream border, and three, a wider dark brown outer border to finish it. I enjoyed the piecing process very much and loved the jewel-like tones in the fabrics I chose. Overall, I think the quilt will have a cheerful summery vibe.
In other news, I am having a routine medical procedure today, and had to have a COVID-19 test three days prior. Now that was an interesting experience! It was a drive-through test. I had an appointment, and there was no waiting, I just drove up to a series of tents where my identity was first verified, then I was guided further down a drive to the next tent, where a nurse was waiting for me. She had the longest swabs I had ever seen and explained how she was going to stick them up my nose for a count of six for each nostril. It was not pleasant, but six seconds isn't too long a time. She counted it out so I knew it was nearly over. There was much eye-watering afterward, but I was able to pull myself together and drive on to the next tent where I was checked out. Later in the day, I had the mother of all sneezing fits, but survived that too!
I haven't gotten my results yet, but I have no reason to think they won't be negative.
Hope to have a post tomorrow unless I am too wiped out.

Sending good wishes for all the medical stuff. I haven’t had a COVID test, but the counting down is such a smart move for something unpleasant. Take care!

Quilt is coming along and really like the smaller blocks. This is going to be very pretty and love the vertical setting. Good luck with the test results.

No matter the name, your quilt top is stunning! I’ve heard the COVID tests are interesting, but not a whole lot of fun. If you don’t post tomorrow take care of yourself & we’ll see you the next time! Stay well!

Your quilt is looking good! I always find sampler style quilts so interesting because of all the different blocks to “check out”. And I do like that you’ve set them on point.
Hope your procedure goes well.

I do like how this quilt looks! I may consider using this type layout myself….once I start the pattern! Good luck on the medical side.

Great quilt blocks and on the diagonal no less. You are good with details Nicole. I thought the overall colors looked fallish until you said it was a summer quilt. On enlarging the photo, it is indeed red, blue and cream, quite regal. Good luck with you medical plans. We’ve had some major hits in outer members of the family circle and it seems too much with Covid still hogging the picture, but life does go on. Learning to be more prayerful every day to keep balance. Hope yours all goes well. Keep well.

Good luck with your medical procedure. My daughter recently had a baby and they tested her for Covid. She said it was such a miserable process she would have rather had another baby.

The quilt is gorgeous! Our world has really changed, hasn’t it? It will be interesting to see when I have to go in the fall for standard tests and exams. I am really worried about the flu season being added into the mix. 🙁
I am so glad you and your family are all safe and well.
