I am determined to get some sewing done around here. Ozzie, who just yesterday indicated his willingness to help me in any way he can, has completely reneged on his promise. I swear, as God is my witness, this dog has gotten on my last nerve. First he got into my purse and stole my brand new Christian Dior Lip Gloss.
I guess I won't be carrying that in my purse any more. Now the gloss comes out of both ends. How convenient.
When he hopped up on the bed next to my sewing machine, I thought all was well and that he could behave for a while. No such luck. Look out! He has my brand new bundle of Dandelion Girl!
He looks like he is saying "Oh for crying out loud. WHAT?"
The final straw came when I heard the phone ring in the next room. I took the call and when I looked out the kitchen window, there in the yard was Ozzie with the project I am working on. I actually picked three straight pins out of his beard once I caught him.
Lucky for me, just as I took this picture, he spied a quail family on the hill and sped off in hot pursuit. Thank goodness he didn't take my quilt top with him.
Well, I do have the rows sewn together at least. Now for the corners and borders. This is Candle in the Wind using a Kansas Troubles group called Snow Blooms.
Two hours later! A finished quilt top! No thanks to my canine companion.
Maria (Shallow Thoughts From Iowa) had a great idea for folks to post something they finished each Friday. My goal for the summer has been to finish my UFO's, so I think I will play along with her in June, July and August and strive to post a Friday Finish each week.

Kewl, you’re gonna do it!? I need the inspiration!
BTW, I had a typo in my very own name when I posted in your Comments (duh – what a dork) – I’m actually Maria, not Mara.

Oh, and that quilt top is yummy, and every quilt should have a few dog and/or cat germs on it.

OMG, he actually carried the quilt top outside? What a character he is. Thanks for the laugh this morning, even if it probably wasn’t a whole lot of funny at the time.

Mere words can’t describe how much I love that dog. Easy for me to say since he isn’t eating my Dior lip gloss. I must say though, he is crossing over to the dark side when he steals the sewing.

Finish something each Friday? Are you kidding? You mean every week? Or just finish something on some Friday during the summer? I might could do that.
THe quilt is beautiful, Nicole. And what can I say about Ozzie? I think he just wants to participate.

I know you should be mad at Ozzie – but when you look at that sweet face it has to be hard to stay mad at him. He’s got good taste in fabric, LOL. LOVE that new quilt – would look great in my house :). A finish every Friday, hmmmm not sure I could do it. Good Luck
Hugs – Karen

Ruh Roh!
And Ruh Roh again because I really am in love with that quilt top. And you KNOW I’m a Kansas Troubles girl.
Oh lordy bee…

That Ozzie – he sure keeps things interesting! At least your quilt is no worse for wear, though the same can’t be said for your lip gloss. Love the Snow Blooms quilt!

The Candle quilt is beautiful and apparently Ozzie thinks so too since he tried to make off with it. I enjoyed looking through your other posts too and all the different quilts you ahve been working on. You have some really nice projects going on!

That little guy certainly has been mischevious for quite a while now. He certainly is a cutie but he cause much distruction. I hope he out grows this soon, I like your quilt top.

That Kansas Troubles quilt turned out beautifully. A Friday Finish sounds good. Count me in. I am impressed with how quickly you put things together. It must all the help from your assistant Ozzie. 🙂

When we had one particular dog, I remember thinking that I had to keep a closer watch on her than I did my kids. The things she would get into. Once she brought a snake into the house for me to play fetch with. She was a retriever so you can guess how that went (much screaming). She ended up being very sweet and very sedate.
Thanks for sharing your UFOs. I’ve pledged myself to finishing one a month. Love your sidebar idea.

Your Kansas Troubles quilt is stunning. Ozzie obviously has very good taste — in choosing fabric, lip gloss, quilt tops, you name it! Who could remain cross with him? That face would melt anyone’s heart!

Nicole I know as a retired teacher that I’m not supposed to laugh at children’s bad behavior because that just reinforces the behavior, but I have to tell you, if I were at your house I’d be laughing all the time. Mr. Ozzie can do such bad things and then he is just so darn cute that you just look at that face and melt…OMG pins in his beard. He is TOO MUCH!

I just love your dog!!!! He is the cutest thing. I read your blog because of your beautiful quilts…but I have to confess I enjoy the antics of Ozzie even more. LOL

For those who found Finished by Friday daunting, y’all don’t have to finish a whole QUILT by each Friday. Just finish SOMETHING. Maybe something small, like organizing your sock drawer, or mending something so it gets out of your mend pile and back into your closet. Finish a block of a quilt if you can’t finish a whole quilt.
Or maybe it IS something big, like you paid off a credit card, or you attended your child’s graduation, or you got your garden in.
Just find something you have finished this week, small or large, and write about it. It’s great motivation for future accomplishments, to realize what you have managed to squeeze in while living the rest of Real Life. :o)

Ozzie is adorable, your photos are so funny. I still remember the one you took of him standing outside the glass door after he ate your shoes. 😉
And of course your quilts are allways such an inspiration, this lat one is beautiful, but the one of the baskets using the Posh fabrics, that’s my favourite. Have a nice weekend!

Ozzie, I don’t think that shade of lipstick is for you. He’s such a character. You can’t help but smile after you scold him. VBG Maybe a book in the future starring Ozzie! Love your quilt, too.

Beautiful quilt- I don’t know if I would have the same patience with Ozzie that you do. I think Friday Finishes are a good idea, but I know that I can’t do a finish a week at least until school starts back up in late July.

Ozzie is so cute I bet it is hard to stay mad at him. At least he didn’t chew holes in the quilt top like my son’s dogs do.

Good thing Ozzie is so cute or he’d probably be dead! What a helper you have. He sees how much you like playing with all that fabric and he wants to join in. You do such beautiful work even without your helper. Thanks for all the smiles.

Was I the one that said Ozzie looked like he was being good for a change? Sorry!
Just so you know you aren’t the one with all the fun…..we’re housebreaking (attempting to) our new scotty puppy. We had to have an intervention and have a trainer come to the house (ala the exorcist!). She gave us some great advise. I can’t let her run around the house anymore. As I type this she is on a lead that is attached to my belt loop of my jeans. We go EVERYWHRE together. Next Sunday she’s off to camp for a week of in-house training ala Paris Island. I hope she gets the same marine drill instructor that my son had at Office Candidate School. He came out very well trained! LOL!

OhMyGosh! I just love that Ozzie — he’s burst out loud laughing funny. He’s the epitome of a blog dog — you’re so lucky. The quilt is beautiful and doesn’t seem to have suffered much for all it’s extra lovin’!

It’s a good think he’s so cute, cause he sure gets into mischief. I think you should make a picture book of his bad days and good days. I think you should get ahold of a publisher, it would have to be a best seller.

More like Quilt in the Wind with Ozzie Trouble fabrics. Oh dear. I do get a chuckle at his antics. Where does he get his ideas? I’d like to know what goes on in that cute little head. You can’t stay made at that face…although the lip gloss, might make one tempted to be mad.
On a brighter note, I think your top turned out just brillantly. I love the color choices. I love the pattern. I just love it.

I think Ozzie Wants you to spend all your time with him he hates you quilting you will have to put him in a play pen then he would probibly chew his way out of it knowing him.
Hugs Mary.

I love your “Candle in the Wind” quilt top. The colors are just beautiful.
Your Ozzie is a real hoot. I’ve been enjoying your stories and pictures of him for quite some time now. He’s got a lot of personality and keeps you on your toes.
Thanks for all the laughs and I look forward to more enjoyment from Ozzie.

Its a good thing Ozzie is so cute, otherwise he would have been sent to a dog rescue. Even with all of his help, how could you imagine life without him? BTW, the quilt is beautiful.

I can’t help but laugh, he is so adorable.
But….I can relate, lol, as I’m working on a queen size 1930’s and I finally finished sewing all the blocks into strips, and have them all neatly organized on the floor in rows, so I don’t forget which strip gets sewn to which strip, and my dog felt the need to go in there and grab a whole mouthful of strips and take off with them and run and play.

I LOVE Ozzie! He makes me laugh out loud with the ideas he comes up with and then the innocent look and lack of remorse when he’s found out.
PS However, I’m glad he lives with you.

Oh that was soo funny to read about the adventures of your puppy! I guess it is the same as with kids, that it’s really funny when it’s someone’s else’s kid/dog, but not so funny when it’s your own!
Great new quilt top! Better keep it away from Ozzie!

Your quilt is beautiful, by the way! Of course, I love everything you sew! I like Maria’s idea of the “Finished by Friday” – I may have to join you in that endeavor.

Well, it’s obvious that Ozzie is a very helpful dog; making your lip gloss easier to use, helping you to pick out fabric for your next project & coming up with the perfect way to get you outside for some exercise after a bit of sewing! He is a dear.
