How funny is this? That big old trailer is full of trimmings from our yard! You would not believe the activity those energetic gardeners generated. All except for one. See the gentleman in the hat at the far left of the photo? He is the ancient father of one of the gardeners. I showed him standing around supervising the work in a photo in my last post.
He did that the entire day. Just stood on the outskirts, looking on. I absolutely love that his son brings him along on jobs. He looked like he was maybe 80 years old, but who knows. He is someone who has undoubtedly put in years of hard work out in the sun, working for other people for less than minimum wage. After all that, he is allowed to just stand there and look on, still feeling as though he is a part of things.
For some reason, this just tugs at my heart. Maybe because I too, have a father who has earned the right to just sit in his chair and watch the world go on. Not participating as actively as he once did, but still very much a cherished member of our family.

I love seeing the Papa watching too…men never get over the desire to hang out and observe others working…adding their two cents now and then…my father is home bound but used to love taking his chair outside to hangout with the other “old guys” and watch the neighbors take care of their homes…

I think it is so wonderful to see people honor their parents. My dear sweet hubby does the same thing. His Dad is 90 years old, but he still asks for advise and counsel on work matters. My hubby gives his Dad some little errands to do. Yes he is still driving at 90! And in pretty good health too.

What a nice way for that family to be. My mom had landscapers that had a dad do the supervising, and man did he have them going.

That is awesome the honor he is granted…and he probably knows more than us all put together! I love it too…that you are moved by this. What a warm heart you have!

My husband does lunch with his dad once a week. They both love it. What a good man to bring his father along. What a good father to enjoy being with his son.
