So. This is the quilt that my friends Lisa (Stashmaster) and Thelma (Cupcakes 'n' Daisies) are thinking of making together. Isn't this the funnest quilt you have seen in forever? I saw it first on someone's blog (forgive me, I don't remember whose). This blogger was using hers as a late summer, early fall table cloth, and it was the prettiest thing I ever saw. Talk about festive. Shoot, I wish I could remember who it was. If anyone knows what I am talking about, please let me know so I can give her credit. I commented to her on how fabulous her quilt was, and as fellow bloggers do, she shared with me that it was an old Buggy Barn pattern.
When I was in Washington at the Buggy Barn last summer, what do you know, the original quilt was on display at their outdoor quilt show! We three gals just fell in love with the scrappy reds, the bright yellows and the sparkling black and brown sunflower centers. We knew we had to make one for ourselves! The quilt is called "Autumn in My Garden" and is from the Buggy Barn book A Little Bit Crazy.
We started collecting fabrics, and got the bright idea that we should share fabrics with each other in order to have more variety in our quilts. We started calling each other the Sunflower Sisters and planning when we would swap fabrics and start our quilts. Lisa has already made amazing progress on hers (go check her blog), and Thelma says she is starting hers next week. You saw in my previous post that I have started work on the brown and black strip pieced sunflower centers. We don't really have a deadline, but hope you will follow along with our progress.

I’ll just clear up one thing-it wasn’t me who posted that quilt :). But I wish it were! Very fun.

What a joy-joy quilt!! The pieced sunflower centers don’t show up well even in the enlarged photo so I’m glad to have seen a couple of your centers in the background of that recent picture.
What extra fun to have a sew-along with friends!
I continue to plow through my UFOs but do envision a slow plow. In the last week I’ve nearly finished a small hearts doll quilt and just have the binding to stitch down on 4 seasonal wall quilts. Oh, and I’ve started a Christmas gift.
Hugs!

That is really the most happy and cheerful quilts I’ve seen recently. Love how the yellows and reds play together and complement each other so nicely! It will be fun to see your progress along with Lisa and Thelma. (Now how is Thelma going to change up her pattern?? LOL).

Looking forward to seeing all three quilts. Should be interesting since your are swapping fabrics too.
I never think to use such a gorgeous quilt as a table cloth. Hmmm, maybe I should.

I hope this comment doesn’t show up twice; my computer is kind of wacko tonight.
Anyway, it may have been my blog where you saw the quilt on my dining room table. Here’s the link – http://neattidy-mary.blogspot.com/search?updated-max=2012-07-21T10:41:00-04:00&max-results=4&start=8&by-date=false.
I love that you three are swapping fabrics. My cousin Audrey and I have done this with some of our quilts because her taste in fabric is a lot better than mine. Looking forward to seeing all three quilts.

just wondering–what other colors would you use if not going for a sunflower/autumn look?

Ah! I’m binding a yellow and red Double-Irish chain quilt right now. Dark red and a happy yellow. The colors are similar!
And the colors ARE happy together!
