Time to Celebrate!

Objects of Desire

Not a secret anymore!  I was honored beyond belief to have been asked to make a quilt for Carrie Nelson, of Miss Rosie fame, months and months ago.  She was coming out with a long awaited new book called Schnibbles Times Two and needed some assistance getting the quilts made for the book's publishing deadline. 

My assignment was to use the adorable Sandy Gervais fabric group Objects of Desire to make a larger version of Carrie's Bennington Schnibbles pattern.  That's my quilt above, as shown in the book!!!!  (Can you tell I am hopping up and down pumping my arms in celebration right now)?

Schnibbles Times Two

I am not the only person you might know here in Blogland who got to make quilts for this book!  Check out Darlene of Quilting Daze and Lisa of Stashmaster —-they have quilts featured in Schnibbles Times Two as well!  Go on over to their blogs and say Congrats, they would love it!  

And please be sure to congratulate Carrie at La Vie En Rose for this incredible accomplishment.  A book!  And not just her first either!  Carrie has photos of the other quilts featured in the book on her blog.  TWO versions of each one! 

In the book, she takes her Schnibbles concept to another level.  Schnibbles are brilliant, but how about making them a bit bigger?  Like quilt size bigger?  Believe me, when you see the pictures on Carrie's blog, you are going to want to make every single quilt in the book, not just once, but several times.  Just this book alone, will inspired you to make every single layer cake you have in your stash into a quilt.  I am not kidding.  We quilters have been waiting for a publication like this for SO long.  The book is full of practical, well written, beautiful patterns for Moda layer cakes and charm squares.  Not a one of them that isn't a winner!

Last but not least, go buy that book!!!!

  3. Seriously – I work in a quilt store and there just aren’t that many good patterns to use layer cakes. I am so looking forward to getting this book and hopefully it’s sequel! What’s better than Carrie’s Schnibbles? BIG SCHNIBBLES!

    Your quilty blogs are the best. I ordered Carrie’s new book immediately – the quilts are a breath of fresh air but do not appear as complicated as many of her regular patterns that I cannot seem to work on with a full-time job. A while ago, I bought your tea-cup fabric for which I am still envisioning the “perfect” project, but I love it and was never able to get it here even when it was very popular (and before internet shopping.)
    Love your blog. It is my first to read EVERY day. I know you think you jump around from one quilt to another, but you must work on what inspires at the moment. Think of it as a “continuing quilt interest.” Your “visiting bee” quilt ethic is what keeps me looking to see what inspires me today.
    Enjoy the day – quilts and all.
