This is where we have been spending our afternoons. It is just too darn hot not to take advantage of it. I pick Eva up from preschool and we head right on over to soak in the cool cool pool. Yesterday we stopped at McDonalds for ice cream and were told the ice cream machine was broken. On the hottest day of the year. Those gals that work there are going to get mighty tired of telling carload after carload of kids that they can't have their frosty treat.
As we were driving through the drive through line (for nothing) Eva was fuming. "Those darn ladies. They broke the ice cream machine. They are going to be in so much trouble". I tried explaining that they didn't do it on purpose (probably), but she wasn't buying it. That kind of ineptitude is just not ok with little Miss.
We stopped back home for our swim suits and made do with a GoGurt.
The pool was wonderful and we splashed and floated and had a fine time. After an hour or so we came home and Eva promptly fell asleep in her bean bag chair. I took advantage of the quiet to do some housework and make a wonderful black bean and corn salad for dinner.
Are you getting the picture that there isn't much sewing going on? Maybe this weekend….

What a fine way to spend your hot days and in fine company, too! Hope the ice cream machine has been repaired by now.
The weather is the same here, minus the pool time, and the humidity has made it nearly unbearable to be outdoors for long. It normal for summer in the South, but I seem to feel the heat more at this age and/or due to lupus. Bother! Bring on the iced tea – the House Wine of the South!
Hugs!

Sounds like you and Eva saved the “too hot” day. My husband and I had a joke together about the ice cream machines at McDonalds. We loved the ice cream as just the right sized treat, and frequently, wherever we traveled the ice cream machine was broken. Thinking they are kind of fragile, subject to overuse.

Keep those steaming temperatures for a while: I start melting at 89 degrees.

Poor Eva! It’s against the law not having ice cream on a hot summer day … at least in a child’s world;-)

Too Darn Hot is right! I am adjusting to Walnut Creek temperatures ! At least 20 degrees hotter than Oakland. I have been doing handwork only and need to get back to the machine soon.

I never get much sewing done during the summer. It’s either too hot or I prefer to be outside doing the gardening. Then it’s onto the shaded deck for some knitting. One of these days I’ll get back to the sewing room, but right now I prefer outside and in the shade. Lucky you, having a pool nearby, and what fun to be able to take Eva swimming. I have the ocean at the end of my street, but there’s not much beach so don’t get down to it often.

What??? A broken ice cream machine????? THAT is just wrong when it’s summertime!! I’m guessing Nana will put away some icy treats in the freezer at home for just-in-case!! Try to stay where it’s cool!

I think it was a conspiracy too! Who ever heard of no ice cream? Hope you all stay in the shade… and have lots of pool time!

I think McDs needs to invest in better equipment. Half the time when I go for an ice cream cone, they say the machine is out of order!
