Hey, Sandy from The Textile House, also known as Strlady! You won those honey buns! Congratulations. Thanks to all of you for your comments during my Giveaway, I appreciate you so much. I will be having my best Giveaways yet once my house sells, so stay tuned for the next one–hopefully in the next month or so!
The focus in this picture isn't on the quilt, it is on the down comforter at the foot of the bed. I bought it with the proceeds from that garage sale we had a couple of weeks ago. Originally, I had it all unfurled on the bed, with the quilt folded up at the foot. You see, everyone decorates with down comforters now, and I wanted my house to look all current when we put it on the market. "Mmm hmmm, these people be stylin'" is the impression I want to make with potential buyers. I want to come off as someone who has the very latest in all domestic affairs.
Hence, to achieve that look: the down comforter. Oh, my. Why hadn't anyone told me? We were WAY too warm with that arrangement. Even though I had purchased the second to the lightest weight comforter Macy's had to offer. So, I switched things out. I put our quilt back to cover the whole top of the bed and folded up the 75 pound comforter at the foot of the bed.
That didn't work either. Who would want 75 pounds of hot on their feet anyway? Also, the mountain of whiteness covering up my much more interesting quilt isn't the look I am going for anyway.
So, I ended up putting the new comforter on one of the guestroom beds. Whew, am I glad to get out from under that old thing.
Somebody misses it though.

Those are nice for those of us who live where it gets really cold in the winter…but no matter the temperature it would be hard to cover that pretty quilt!

Looks like you have a lovely cover on the down mountain. Even though I live in Texas we use a down comforter all winter but I never put a cover on it any more. It makes it way too heavy. I send it out to my cleaners at the end of the season instead. The quilt is lovely!

Cute doggie bed!!
I hear you on the weight of some covers. The first quilt I made (a Log Cabin) ended up too hot to sleep under.
Hope your home sells quickly to someone who will love it as much as you have.
Hugs!

I have a down comforter at the foot of the bed but I am short so my feet don’t get down there. However, Abby loves the comforter. She curls up on top of it, then under it, switching back and forth throughout the night. I did put it away a couple of weeks ago and she was lost so out it came, just for her. Dogs!!

Love my down comforter….so light but so toasty. But true…getting that time of year when I would simple like the sheet.
Wishing you luck on a quick sale.

Congrats to Sandy on winning the draw!
Your quilts are the best and shouldn’t be covered up with a comforter IMHO!! Glad it is going to the guest room!

I only use my down comforter in the winter then away it goes. I much prefer the look of my quilts, but then I won’t be selling my home.
