My Intentions Were Good…

001

Um.  Right.  Yeah, I know.  What were my last words here on this blog?  Nantucket.  I will focus on and finish Nantucket.

But then, I was out in my garage storage area, where my project boxes are kept.  I was looking for my Christmas wrapping paper when out of the corner of my eye, I saw a box labled "All Wrapped Up".  "Hmmm, what was that?",  I wondered.

Just a peek was all it took.  Oh my goodness, I remember that project!  Kate Spain's Flurry collection and a super easy and fun pattern made up of blocks that look like Christmas presents!

I could not help myself.  I forgot all about wrapping Christmas gifts, sewing Nantucket, cleaning my house, cooking dinner, and all the other things I was supposed to be doing.  I brought that project box into the house and up to my sewing room where I discovered I had already completed five of the sixteen blocks.  Finishing the remaining blocks took no time at all, and if I had not been interrupted by various other pressing responsibilities, I would have gotten those four borders on and it would have been a done deal.  All wrapped up, as it were.

I did get the blocks and lattice sewn together, and finished one of the borders.  Three more to go, and I will have a new Christmas quilt top!

  5. I love that top and this is the perfect time to work on it!! If you can squeeze in the time to be in you sewing room, it should be fun time. I think you chose wisely, Nantucket can wait.

  7. What a charming, fun, and very seasonal quilt project you found and applause for getting it so nearly completed!! Won’t Miss E love this quilt? Yes, Nantucket can wait for a little while.
It is just the pits when folks you live with want food, clean clothes, and attention when all you want to do is sew. I mean, really!
We’re frozen with ice all over every outdoor surface and our evergreens are bent. It will be good to have a thaw today.
    Hugs!

  11. How fun! Flurry is one of my favorite Christmas fabrics ever! I think you chose the right project since it’s something you can use now but not in another month! Hope you find a few minutes here & there to get the borders on!

  13. Hilarious!!! Our lives are so running parallel. I swear I only have ADHD when it comes to quilting! It’s a lovely quilt for Christmas and it is worth it to finnish it. It’s just an itch that needs to be scratched!

  15. lol! I know the feeling. I made these blocks several years ago but used them as table runners to give as Christmas gifts to my sisters and friends. A very quick project. They were adorable runners and using different lines of fabric from whimsy, to “country” to gold embossed allowed them all to take on their own “personality”. Have fun wrapping up your packages. 🙂 I Love your quilt!!!

  19. This one is a great diversion from Nantucket. I made this pattern and it resides with my DIL. I was just thinking about using my leftovers to make Round and Round. What do you think? Right?

  25. Oh what fun Nicole! I love this pattern and of course, the fabrics are perfect!
It’s good to see you can be flexible and just go with the flow of the day… never know what a trip to the garage will produce.
