Valentine’s Love

IMG_2494

It is a bit late, but I neglected to share my Valentine's Day with you.  With all my running around these days I have barely been home to enjoy my pretty cards and flowers.

The little table topper is Mon Ami, a Schnibbles pattern by Miss Rosie's Quilt Co.  I made it smaller than the pattern called for and bring it out every Valentines Day.  The three pink and red candle holders I picked up at an upscale grocery store near my dad's house.  Love the three shades of reds and pink.  The flowers are from my husband.  He couldn't decide between the red and the white roses, so he got both!   They must have been super fresh, because they are still going strong, almost 10 days later.

One of my sisters is especially thoughtful when it comes to sending cards.  Look at this beautiful Valentine card she sent me, along with a vintage crocheted handkerchief from Europe.  Isn't that exquisite?  I have quite a collection of vintage hankies, and really need to use them more.  Or at least tuck one in my handbag just in case.

Happy belated Valentine's Day to all of you!

  1. Happy Valentine’s Day to you too! What a thoughtful husband you have! And sister! Where does she find those Valentines? I’d love to be able to send those to my girls each year, they’re so pretty! Love the handkerchiefs, my Great Grandmother taught me how to crochet lace on handkerchiefs when I was a young girl. I believe my mother has hers and maybe one or two of my efforts. Really enjoyed this post, thanks for sharing!

  4. Sweet! Your hubby hit a home run with those lovely flowers and your sister’s card with the beautiful hanky is charming.
I, too, have many vintage hankies, mostly from the women in my family. I stitched 3 of the prettiest white hankies to pillow fronts so the pillow color shows thru the cut-work. These hankies belonged to my grandmother and the pillows were a gift for my mother, her daughter. The pillow colors matched a quilt I had made for her.
I’ve been so busy here and next door and so tired as a result, I didn’t even get my Valentine’s table topper like yours out this year. Hang my head!
    Hugs!
