Viola Border

 Just so you know, I haven't abandoned Viola now that she is off my design wall.  I have a plan for a border involving half square triangles.  I got the triangles made, as you see in the photo above.  They all need to be trimmed to 3 inches, a task I know is going to take me a little while.  I plan to stay with my father next week, and will take them with me as a portable project.  Dad is continuing to recover from his broken leg, but still isn't well enough to be on his own.

Here is Viola, resting on the guest room bed.  That bed is queen sized, and the top fits just on the top of the mattress.  The finished quilt is going onto a twin sized bed, so I do need to make the quilt a bit wider with the borders I have in mind.  Once I get those half square triangles trimmed down to size, the borders should come together quickly.  Then off to the quilters with her, and with luck, Viola will be on Eva's bed this spring!

  1. Cheers for the happy colors, flowers, and pots in Viola! Eva will be so pleased. Your HST border sounds perfect but will that not enlarge the quilt so it touches the floor on the twin sized bed?
    This looks like just the right project to take to your Dad’s home next week. It’s good to hear he’s on the mend and I know he’s glad to have the company of his lovely daughters as you take turns staying with him. How is your similarly injured and on the mend nephew doing?
    What’s up with Grandpa and Ozzie?
    We’ve still got snow, snow, and snow but the days have been warm enough that it’s slowly thawing. In the coming week there are two days forecast to be nearly 70*F, so what’s up with that?!

  4. I love Viola! I’d love to have that kind of colour in my house, but it just wouldn’t match. I’ll have to settle for making one in those colours for someone else. LOL Take care.
