I've been bit by the Mug Rug Bug. These little drinks coasters make such great gifts, and are so easy to whip up.
Yesterday I got up at the crack of dawn and got started on making five sets of four coasters. I worked on them for about six hours and completed 20 patchwork blocks and also cut out the backings. Today, if Baby E will let me, I will cut the batting and assemble the finished coasters.
I enjoy working with seasonal colors and fabrics, and love being able to present something unique as a hostess gift or birthday gift. Making these has also been a godsend to me as a vehicle for using up my stash. The red white and blue fabric in the picture is mostly left over scraps from my Prairie Paisley quilt, which was also the name of the collection offered by Minick and Simpson a few years back.

Love the quilt and the charming mug rugs! I enjoy seasonal fabrics, too.
FIL had a stroke yesterday and is in the hospital but he seems to have already made an astonishing recovery to near normal (for him). We thought he was a goner at 5p yesterday, so things are going pretty well so far.
Hugs!

Well aren’t you clever! What a lovely hostess gift; if your friends know they will be on the receiving end of such a lovely gift you will be showered with invites! Smart cookie!
I really must keep this in mind…

Love your Prairie Paisley quilt!! I have some of that line, and one day I hope to make something just as pretty.

Very cute. I was thinking about your new selling opportunity. How about napkins? Sets of four for everyday use. Just a thought.

What size are these rug blocks? And do you use batting and do any quilting on them? They are such a clever idea.

I KNOW! The scraps from quilts I’ve made HAUNT me! Are you still selling them in SIL’s winery gift shop?

I made a king size quilt out of that fabric line too! Loved it and I’ve nearly used up all my scraps from that line. The mug rugs are cute!

I love that Prairie Paisley line. I was sewing with some scraps of it this afternoon too. Your quilt is wonderful!!

And a mighty pretty mug rug ‘factory’ it is! Don’t you feel even better knowing you’re using stash & scraps and it’s not costing you any money to produce them?! (never mind that you had to pay for the fabric at one time or other)! Hope you were able to sneak some sewing in while Baby E snoozed/cat-napped!

I still love my Paisley Parade quilt, and the fact that we worked on it together. I’m sad that my new work space, despite the wonderful windows, has no space for my PP quilt. I enjoyed coming to work and seeing it in my cubicle.
