Star light, star bright, first star I see tonight……No, not that kind of star. Fabric stars! I pulled out the UFO labeled "Roman Holiday" and got to work on it over the weekend. Lots of stars in this pattern–in fact, it is ALL stars and flying geese! The pattern is Opening Day by Miss Rosie's Quilt Company, and the fabric is Roman Holiday (last year's Christmas group by 3 Sisters for Moda). Lisa and I started this project together, and she finished hers months ago. Take a look at her blog to see what the quilt looks like finished.
I have more stars to finish today, but am organized. As soon as I finish this post, I will get back to it. I must have dozed off for a minute there. Ooops.
I figured while I was at it, making all these stars, that I might as well start a new project that has been on my mind since last year. Remember the book Comfort and Joy by Brenda Riddle? There is a pattern in it called Coventry, that is so gorgeous. I had a layer cake of the new group Peace on Earth by 3 Sisters for Moda, and it is totally compatible with last year's group Roman Holiday by the same designers for Moda. I have just enough fabric to make it on hand. I had taken Sara had given me a bolt of Kona White and it came in handy for the four and a half yards of background fabric required. I took this picture at In Between Stitches back in April. My version should look very similar even though I am using different fabrics.
Lots of little stars required for this quilt. Six and a half inch square blocks. Cute, huh? Obviously with only three blocks made, I have a way to go. Love the effect of that stripe.
I have my work cut out for me!
Just had to share a picture of Ozzie at his happiest, dirty face and all. He had a new bone and had been burying it in the garden. Just look at that smile. Dogs are so transparent in their emotions.

Your star blocks are so pretty, Nicole. I enjoyed catching up with what all you’ve been doing while I was at the beach. Not sure what Ozzie has been doing, though it looks like whatever it was required that his snout be put into action. That’s how Sophie looks when she’s been sniffing for chipmunks.

Love these star quilts, and like you said you were already working on stars, so what’s a few more.

Well, of course these are going to be Nicole-gorgeous quilts. That much is obvious. The thing that fascinates ME, GF, is how you blithely move from “while I was at it . . . I might as well start a new project.” This from She Who Vows To Complete Her UFOs. Gotta love it. Gotta love YOU.

I love Ozzie’s “This is who I am – take it or leave it” attitude towards life. Although he can be a pest, I’m sure he doesn’t have a bad bone in his body.

Your star blocks are really coming along. I love the Peace on Earth ones, especially that diagonal stripe. Yummy. How do you get so much done? (Convinced you never sleep…)
